POWERCOL is an active fibrillar absorbable hemostatic collagen proven to accelerate clot formation. Collagen promotes hemostasis by enhancing platelet aggregation and the release of proteins required for fibrin formation, thereby accelerating the clotting process. <\/p>\n

POWERCOL\u00ae is a purified, equine-derived collagen product. The material is sterile, pyrogen-free, and bioabsorbable. Its hemostatic efficacy is largely attributed to its fibrous structure. This structure mechanically arrests bleeding by facilitating rapid initial wound packing. <\/span><\/p>\n

Stabilization of the initial packing is achieved through the formation of a fibrin network. Upon contact between the collagen and blood, platelets aggregate and release coagulation factors. These factors, in conjunction with plasma factors, induce fibrin formation, ultimately resulting in clot formation. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

    About Collagen<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    The word \u201ccollagen\u201d is of Greek origin; \u201ckolla\u201d means glue, and \u201cgen\u201d means producing. Collagen is a fibrous structural protein found in the extracellular matrix and connective tissue of animals (Ramshaw et al., 2009). It is the most abundant protein in the animal kingdom. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Collagen is not found in plants or single-celled organisms; in these organisms, it is replaced by polysaccharides and cellulose. It has been the subject of various scientific studies since ancient times. Its fields of application are highly extensive, and it can be sourced from various origins. <\/span><\/p>\n

    POWERCOL\u00ae is sourced from equine deep flexor tendons. Due to the emergence of diseases that pose a significant risk to human health\u2014such as BSE, TSE, FMD, and particularly “mad cow disease”\u2014researchers have actively turned towards safer, alternative collagen sources; this alternative has been found in equine-derived collagen <\/span><\/p>\n

    One of the significant disadvantages of bovine collagen is that it causes allergic reactions in approximately 3% of the population, thereby limiting its clinical use.<\/span><\/p>\n
